IRCOM’s recent vaccine clinics were a great success in partnership with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA). 109 tenants at IRCOM Ellen received 108 flu shots and 63 COVID-19 vaccines, and 52 clients at IRCOM Isabel received 51 flu shots and 23 COVID-19 vaccines.

Sometimes, our tenants’ children had already received vaccines at school or clinics, so our Public Health nurses were available for those unsure of their vaccine status to check records and help keep everyone up to date.

Office Closed for Remembrance Day
Our office will be closed on November 11 in observance of Remembrance Day. We will resume regular business hours on November 12, 2024.

In our English class, each page turned is a step forward. Through the Newcomer Literacy Initiative (NLI), adult students—many experiencing formal education for the first time—are finding excitement and success in learning to read and write in English. Together with our dedicated volunteers, students begin with the basics, like the English alphabet, and steadily build skills that unlock new opportunities.

This program is about more than just language; it’s about empowerment. NLI provides accessible Adult English as an Additional Language (EAL) literacy classes to those unable to access mainstream programs due to childcare needs or mobility limitations. In our supportive community, every word read and written brings newcomers closer to their goals and helps them feel at home in their new environment.
