Thanks to the Daryl K. Seaman Canadian Hockey Fund at the Calgary Foundation, IRCOM’s After School Program brings newcomer children to the rink from October to March — fully equipped and ready to play.

IRCOM’s Research and Evaluation team, along with one of our Youth Program Support Workers, recently traveled to Calgary to connect with other youth-serving organizations. This Community of Practice meeting—funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada and led by PREVNet (@prevnet )—focused on preventing gender-based violence among youth.
While there, the IRCOM team also visited the Calgary Public Library (@calgarylibrary ) and explored the Canadian Council for Refugees (@ccrweb ) exhibit about refugees in Canada—an important reminder of the resilience and contributions of newcomer communities.
By sharing knowledge and strengthening partnerships, we’re working towards safer, more inclusive spaces for young people. Stay tuned for an upcoming announcement about IRCOM’s new gender-based violence prevention programming! 💜

A huge congratulations to the IRCOM U17/18 boys on an outstanding indoor season. They finished as champions for 2024/2025. Their hard work, teamwork, and dedication paid off in the finals last weekend.
Shoutout to the U16 Girls team for a strong season and a well-earned playoff run. Our U14 Boys also made an impressive midseason comeback, securing a playoff spot. We are incredibly proud of all our athletes and deeply grateful to our coaches for their leadership, encouragement, and support—on and off the field.
Thank you to our staff, parents, and community members who showed up, cheered on our teams, and supported our youth throughout the season.

Circle of Friends is a key part of our After School Program, designed to support 12 and 13-year-olds as they transition from children’s programs into youth programming with confidence. Through this program, young youth take part in more independent outings—like visiting The Leaf—while also learning about self-care, personal hygiene, and personal safety. They build friendships, develop essential skills, and gain the knowledge they need to navigate this new stage safely. Creating a supportive space, we help ensure a smooth transition and set them up for success in our youth programs.

Money Management Training is a key part of IRCOM’s Asset Building Programs (ACBPs), empowering newcomer families with the knowledge and skills to manage their finances effectively. This year, 76 participants at IRCOM and 4 at CMWI successfully completed the training, equipping them to save for assets that will bring lasting benefits to themselves, their families, and their communities.
