IRCOM announces new Executive Director

We are pleased to announce that after an extensive national search, IRCOM’s Board of Directors has successfully selected our new Executive Director, Shereen Denetto.

Shereen is a familiar face to the IRCOM community, as well as to the non-profit sector in Winnipeg. Shereen spent eight-years in senior executive roles with IRCOM, including as Director of Programming (2012 – 2015), Interim Executive Director (2015 – 2016), and Associate Executive Director (2016 – 2020).

Shereen returns to IRCOM from Mosaic Newcomer Family Resource Network where she has served as the organization’s Director of Family Programs. During her time at Mosaic, Shereen continued to play a role in the progress of IRCOM as our Research Lead and has remained connected with staff and community as an advocate and mentor.

Denetto said “I am deeply honored to join the IRCOM team. It is an exciting time to be part of this amazing organization as we move towards our 30th anniversary. I am looking forward to working with a wonderfully talented team, a dedicated board and great community partners to create a welcoming home for newly arrived refugees and immigrants, and inclusive spaces for all.”

As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, and as we continue to create a welcoming home for newly arrived refugees and immigrants, the IRCOM team excitedly looks forward to the future with Shereen leading the organization.

In this new era as we work together to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, and with Shereen Denetto as our Executive Director, we remain grateful to our incredible community partners and funders. We look forward to working with all of you to ensure Winnipeg’s refugee families are not left behind.

Lawrence Deane

President, IRCOM Board of Directors
