In August, thanks to the generous support of the Province of Manitoba and Canadian Heritage, IRCOM hosted our annual Meet the Neighbours BBQ.
The event brought together IRCOM families, staff, community members and neighbours for an afternoon filled with food, fun and connection.
From henna and face painting to a hands-on planting station, families celebrated culture, creativity and community. We were especially grateful to partner with Jeannie White Bird of Rolling River First Nation, who shared her knowledge at the Grandfather Bundle station. Her teachings reminded us how the earth provides the gifts we need to stay grounded, connect with our heritage and honour our ancestors.
Thank you to everyone who joined us. We look forward to bringing our
community together again next year.

We`re proud to recognize and thank @co_operators for its support of IRCOM`s Youth Employment Program.
This program empowers newcomer youth aged 16-21 to overcome systemic barriers, build job readiness skills, gain confidence, and prepare for meaningful employment opportunities. Through mentorship, skill development, and hands-on support, youth are better equipped to succeed in the workforce and reach their goals.
Thank you, Co-operators, for investing in the potential, success, and future of newcomer youth in our community.

We`re excited to share that IRCOM has received a grant from @ctjumpstart to support our soccer programming for newcomer youth ages 15-18!
This funding will help create opportunities for young newcomers to stay active, build confidence, develop teamwork skills, and make meaningful connections through sport.
Reducing barriers to participation is a key part of our youth programs, and this support will help ensure that more newcomer youth can access and enjoy the benefits of our soccer league.
A big thank you to @ctjumpstart for investing in youth, inclusion, and well-being.

Back to school looks a little different for every family.
For some newcomer children and youth, it means returning to familiar classrooms and friends. For others, it may be their very first school year in Canada.
There can be excitement, nerves, new routines, and a lot to take in. Through it all, IRCOM is here to support children, youth, and families as they learn, connect, and find their place in the community.
Wishing our students and families a great school year ahead.

Thank you, EZ Transit (@eztransit )!
Because of your support, IRCOM families were able to attend the Winnipeg Blue Bombers game on August 28 and enjoy a memorable experience together. We couldn`t make opportunities like this happen without incredible partners like you.
We appreciate all you do for our community!

Some wins happen on the field. Others happen when people begin to feel at home.
We were proud to be recognized as a Community Champion by the Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries (@mbliquorlotteries ) & the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (@wpgbluebomberscfl ) organization. What made the evening even more meaningful was seeing many of our newcomer families experience a Canadian football game for the first time, including some who had been in Canada for less than three months.
One first-time attendee joked, “I’m still wondering why they call it football when they barely kick the ball.” But he also shared how much he enjoyed the energy, the cheering, and all the “get loud” moments.
Our staff noticed it too. Every Bombers score brought high fives between families, youth, staff, and fans around us. Those small moments created connection and made the stadium feel a little more like home.
And what a first game to experience. Winnipeg won 44- 28 and ended Montreal’s seven-game winning streak.
Maybe Team IRCOM really was the lucky charm that night.
Thank you to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries for the recognition and for creating such a memorable experience for our community.
